SIDE EFFECTS OF XOLIAR
Xoliar (Omalizumab) is an injection (shot) given under the
skin (subcutaneous) for every 2 or 4 weeks. For many
patients who still have asthma symptoms even though they are
taking inhaled steroids, Xoliar helps to reduce the number
of asthma attacks. When people with allergic asthma breath
in a year round allergen, such as cat or dog dander, their
bodies make more Immunoglobulin E (IgE). This may cause a
series of reactions in your body, which leads to asthma
attacks and symptoms. Xolair helps to block IgE.
Side effects that occur rarely include: shortness of breath;
puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes,
face, lips or tongue; skin rash; tightness in chest.
More common side effects include: congestion; discoloration
of skin; hoarseness; dryness or soreness of throat; feeling
of pressure; fever; headache; stuffy or runny nose;
tenderness; tingling; trouble in swallowing; swelling;
tender, swollen glands in neck; runny nose; scarring; pain
around eyes and cheekbones; redness etc.
Less common side effects include: arm pain; blistering or
crusting; Irritation, itching, reddening of skin, earache;
cracked, dry, scaly skin; itching skin etc. Other side
effects may also arise with the use of this drug and if
necessary contact your healthcare professional for effective
diagnosis.
